University of Denver's School of Engineering and Computer Science

The University of Denver, the oldest independent university in the Rocky Mountain region, enrolls approximately 9,500 students in its undergraduate, graduate and first professional programs.

Understanding that personal attention is the hallmark of a superior education, DU keeps its class sizes small. Faculty members, not graduate assistants, teach our classes--which average only 20 students. What's more, you'll find that faculty is available outside the classroom as well. Have a question? Don't worry; you'll have plenty of opportunities to ask it.

You'll get a well-rounded education that will prepare you for a rewarding career and a fulfilled life. Every DU student takes classes from the Core Curriculum, which introduces you to key ideas and concepts in the arts, humanities and social sciences. Engineering students also fulfill a natural science component, adding balance and fundamentals to the menu of engineering science and design classes.

MS in Electrical Engineering

The Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) is designed to advance the student's knowledge in several areas of electrical engineering. It provides breadth through its flexible minor or technical elective requirement, while permitting the student to achieve depth in one of three areas of specialization:

  • electromagnetics and optical communications
  • signal processing and communications
  • systems and controls

These areas of specialization have been selected to coincide with those of high current interest, as well as of those emerging technologies that hold promise of increasing importance in the future. The program will prepare students for further academic or industrial advancement. Both thesis and non-thesis options are offered.

We recognize the increasing need for interaction between scientific discovery and scientific development, so we support sophisticated doctoral study. Our PhD program addresses the rigorous preparation required of applied research professional in government, industry, and other technology-based areas, as well as the intellectual depth required for academic careers.

Diversity Statement

The University of Denver's School of Engineering and Computer Science actively encourages participation by women and minority students through focused recruiting and support organizations. The school is proud to support well-established chapers of the following organizations:

  • Society of Women Engineers (SWE)
  • National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE)
  • Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE)
  • Asian Science Engineering Club (ASEC)

On average, one in four of our faculty members are women and the faculty as a whole shows broad racial and ethnic diversity. It is a rare student who cannot find an impressive role model among SECS professors.

We actively recruit students from groups traditionally underrepresented in the engineering and computing professions. International students and women and students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and disadvantaged socioeconomic backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
